Animal Cracker Research-Competition

Stauffer's Animal Crackers:

Gourmet Hand Painted Animal Cookies:
Barnum's Animal Crackers:

Do-it-your-self Animal Cracker kits:

Critical analysis/Creative Rationale - Animal Crackers

Product: Animal Crackers, Gourmet.

Initial thinking and emotions: These are animal shaped crackers......how serious can they be? They should be fun to eat. Kids want to eat them, moms don't mind because they are a healthier option than cookies. Gourmet Animal Crackers could be marketed to an entirely different clientele. Perhaps one that is potty trained?

Target Market: 25-35 trendy people. Who like to throw cocktail parties.

Winning Attributes that set this product apart are: These aren't ordinary animal crackers, these are Gourmet Animal Crackers. They are sophisticated but fun at the same time!

Key Challenges. Barriers to Buying in: "Animal Crackers are for children not adults". "They don't have a sophisticated taste". You can't put any topping on it. ei) cheese, pate ect.

Project Goals: Market to an older audience, rather than children. Position Gourmet Animal Crackers as a must have at any cocktail party to lighten the mood. Have some fun again, like when you used to play with your food. Only this time mom won't get mad at you for doing so. The package design should look 'gourmet' but also be a little quirky and fun.

More fountains!!

If this is going to work we definitely need more water fountains around town. They should be in places we might not expect. Urban places like downtown on the side of a building. The trick is these fountains have to be absolutely beautiful and pristine to look at. It can't just be a hose spouting out of a concrete building.
Some examples of this are:

Imagine this as a drinking fountain on a hot summer day, after you've just done a 5k. This sends the message our water is so clean it's like purified water. I thought of a glacier mountain fountain with this concept as well.

I just loved how organic this looked. Like you're drinking right from a glacier stream. This would be great up on the Grouse Grind.

Gorilla Campaign- Idea #2

The 'Bottled' Fountain

At first glance these look like thirst quenching filtered water taps. If you're on a jog or simply walking your dog, you definitely would stop at one of these for a sip. The catch is once you get closer and read the label you discover this is actually Vancouver Municipal Tap water. This also shows the ridiculous fact that companies like Dasani and Aquafina are selling us our own tap water at a 500 times mark-up!

The label would read something like this:
"25% of bottled water is just filtered tap water. Vancouver's tap water is some of the cleanest drinking water in the world. Boycott the Bottle www.vancouverontap.com"

Gorilla Campaign- Idea #1

1) the mountain of bottles

The sign in front could say something like: "It takes 700 years for one of these to begin to decompose in our land fills. Boycott the Bottle. www.vancouverontap.com"

Initiatives decided by the group

1) Design a cool carrier/fashion statement to hold tap water

2) Make tap water more accessible outdoors, in area's where our target group 'hang'.

3) Educate our group on the dangers of drinking bottled water and how it effects our environment through a Gorilla advertising campaign.

More on this later.........

Facts on Water

In Canada local water supplies are inspected every day.
Bottled water plants are inspected at three-year intervals!!

High-income households are more likely to drink bottled water than low-income.

The Canadian Dental Association discovers a correlation between an increase in cavity decay and a consumption of bottled water over tap water. ( Bottled water does not have fluoride in it)

Vancouver On Tap- Project Brief

Our Product is Vancouver Municipal Water.

Emotions and initial thoughts on tap water: lets face it, people don't like the idea of drinking water from a tap. They prefer bottled water, because they feel it is cleaner and safer than drinking tap water.

Target Market: Young, active people between the ages of 20-30.
This demographic is fun and outgoing. They play sports, ride bikes, go on hikes, go for drinks with friends. This market is also stylish and very concerned with their appearances, what their friends are wearing and doing. This group is very health conscious, and watches what they eat and drink carefully.

Winning Propositions, and attributes that set it apart: Water is free! By not buying bottled water you save money, and help keep our land fills clear of toxic plastic water bottles. Tap water is convenient. You find it at every sink in your house, every restaurant, every community center, basically anywhere there is a washroom or sink. Also water fountains in parks and schools. Our Vancouver tap water is actually very safe and clean to drink, and the good news is there's lots of it here!

Key Challenges, and Barriers to buying in: The public's perception of tap water is not very good. Most feel it's dirty or contaminated with chemicals. With breakouts of disease caused by unsafe drinking water in the past, it will be difficult to change peoples minds about this. Bottled water is not what it claims to be and we need to let people know! We need to educate them the pros and cons, then step back and let them make the right decision.

Project Goals: Get people to drink Vancouver tap water, and stop buying bottled water. Make it easy to get tap water on the go. Educate people on the dangers of drinking bottled water. Really speak to our target market in a voice they can understand.

Media: The sky's the limit! We will be focused on a more 'gorilla' type of campaign.

Tokyo Window Display

This window display is completely made up of paper! Origami on a whole nother level

It's really clever how they used the cut-out as the shadows on the people and the lettering.

For the very posh parents

Bloom is a company designing very contemporary, (very expensive), baby furniture. They've taken a very modern approach and looked at function vs. style. I think they have achieved that, it's just too bad you need to be a millionaire to afford any of their pieces.

This is a "rocker". Hmmm very different from the crayon coloured one my mother used on me and my brothers. Totally arrow dynamic and fashionable for any haute couture living room.

A highchair that looks like something out of The Jetsons family kitchen.

Don't forget a kiddy table.
Perhaps IKea could do some nock-offs like this.

Leather Sculptures

Natalia Brilli is a fashion accessory designer with a passion for leather. Her pieces are so unique and could be used as coffee table art if you don't have the guts to wear them.

I love the laptop case with the embossed keys in what looks like a very soft leather. Also the wallet with coins and credit cards on the outside....very cool. The leather looks so touchable you just want to run your fingers over it.

The Dear Head purse. Look at the detail in the leather. I wonder how she makes this.

These are hand bags. She calls these "Vanity".

Pineapple.
Not sure if the skate board is functional, but still a cool piece of art.

Not sure what this is or what it does, but interesting none the less.

It's a good thing westerners like to drink beer!

A Buddhist community found a very good use for recycling old beer bottles. This beautiful architecture is really a piece of art....functional art.

By using over one million empty bottles, they were able to create a monumental temple as well as clean up landfills.

The intricate pattern work here is very interesting. They have used the shape of the beer bottle like pieces to a puzzle and fit them together beautifully. They have even taken into consideration the colour of the bottles, mixing green and brown into shapes.
Amazing what you can do with a beer bottle.

Madonna's controversial guns

Just an interesting fashion accesory I found on line. What do you suppose Madonna is trying to say with these? Or is she up to her old publicity tricks?

Aeshetic and style of illustration

The illustration would look something like this but with minimal colour. Certain objects would be coloured orange to intensify this.

A scanner Darkly

possible Orange logo?

An idea for a logo would be something like the Kidrobot. It already looks like an orange ;)

Merchandise!!

Research on how to carry an orange:
my sketches: these cases would have limited edition graphics on them. Collaborations with different artists like Jon Burgerman.

Our Heroes!

Here is some of my inspiration for my heroes:

here are my heroes:

Jokester Boy is a bit of a prankster and loves to ease any tense situation with his slapstick humor. An orange slice in the mouth as a smile or simply juggling three oranges, hopping on one foot while he sings, are just a few of Jockester's tricks.

hall monitor guy is a stickler for rules, so if he sees anyone braking them you have to answer to his very powerful orange pepper spray. Don't be caught in the hall with out a hall pass during class.........or else.

Madame Citrus uses her orange peel whip to whip any bad guy into shape. Don't piss this Dominatrix off, cause she always wins.

Mafia Man has a very power full orange gun that shoots out orange seeds at speeds faster than a machine gun!

These characters could become toys for a campaign. There could be T-shirts ect. the possibilities are endless!!
