Teenagers arn't what they used to be (I'm so out of touch)

So this little bloggie is to share what I've discovered about the tween/teen demographic. What are kids up to these days? An interesting study shows they spend a lot of time playing video games, more than what I expected!

The PEW research center recently released these results from a study done on Sept 19, 2008:

-97% of teens (12-17) play computer, web, portable, or console games
-74% played racing games (Nascar, Mario Kart)
-67% played action games
The most popular games are: Guitar Hero, Halo 3, Madden NFL, Solitaire...(really?!) oh and a game called Dance Dance Revolution.
For most Teens gaming is a social activity and plays a major component of their over all social experience. Whether that be with the opponent in the room or over the Internet.

So my conclusions based on these findings are:
-majority of teens play video games
-gaming is social and should be in a network inviroment to be succesful
-games to do with music, sports, or first person killing are most successful in this target market
